A victory for the residents of Fredericksburg
Thanks to you, today we are all celebrating a victory for the residents of Fredericksburg. The issue of entire-home short-term rentals and their negative impact on our community has been on the top of the newspaper’s front page and the minds of the town’s citizens. We have rejected the vision of “Aspen of Texas” and have overwhelmingly embraced a vision of a town that is livable and lived-in.
You, as a supporter of the Fredericksburg Neighborhood Coalition, have been an important part of this victory. You may have talked with your neighbors about your concerns and issues. You may have spoken at the City Council meetings or written a letter to the newspaper. You may have donated to our organization, which permitted us to share our message with the whole of the town. Or you may have contributed to the candidates, which enabled them to effectively express their vision for the future of Fredericksburg. But most importantly, you voted and your voice has been heard.
The total voter turnout was nearly double the usual vote count for a May election. The votes for pro-neighborhood candidates were nearly double those of their opponents. The people have spoken and we are proud that we are standing together and looking toward a more promising future for Fredericksburg and those of us who live here.
